New ATI Graphics Cards announced.
The new range of ATi cards is being shown this week at the QuakeCom video game convention in Dallas. Codenamed “Evergreen”, the new cards are sure to excite loyal ATI owners and send a shiver down the spine of Nvidia.
The best news is that the card is expected to be released on September 10th of this year!!! That only gives us 3 weeks to save for what will hopefully be the fastest card ever produced. This card will have to go some to beat ATi’s existing champion, the 4870 X2 which is arguably the faster card ever produced.
Yet again ATI get one over Nvidia by releasing the Microsoft DX11-compliant card first. The last generation of graphics cards released by ATI were a much welcome return to form for the Canadian based company, whose previous efforts were put to shame by Nvidia; could the new 5000 range of cards mean that ATI have the edge for two generations? We shall see.
I cannot wait to see the first full demo of these cards running graphics in DX11. It looks as though the bar is going to be raised again. Perhaps we will finally be able to play Crysis how it was intended to be played, 3 years after its release….
The geeks that work in my IT Support London Office are getting very excited indeed about this. Two of them have already put their 4870 cards on eBay ready for an upgrade, sad gits.
